Proteus is often used when modeling and designing programmable devices such as microprocessors and microcontrollers.
Virtual Serial Port Simulation Proteus Serial Interfaces InWe present this short tutorial showing how you can create virtual serial interfaces in Proteus using Eltimas Virtual Serial Port Driver software.
Our demonstration will involve testing a microcontroller applications functionality. A host program will be used to send data to a microcontroller via the UART communication protocol. We have chosen to enact this communication with a MAX232 chip, which is a UART-COM converter, to connect the microcontroller to the computer. In serial communication, data packets are marked with start and end b its, and they are sent with successive signals. Visual Basic is the most high-level programming language in these languages. This language is used in short-term projects that intensely use data base communication. Also, communicating with the computer hardware is easy with this language (Visual Basic). However, an electronic project that works with computer hardware requires a PIC microprocessor for two way communication. To see the effects of changing in program that is embedded in PIC microcontroller will provide money and time saving before building electronic circuit. At this point, there is need for a circuit drawing program such as Proteus. However, for an electronic design in which computer hardware will be used, it is required to produce a virtual computer hardware and to correlate software on this hardware. With this regard, in this paper, it is studied on a servo motors control by connecting Visual Basic and Proteus on a serial port. In the paper, communication procedures of both software and sample application are explained in detail. Data communication is divided into two; s eries and parallel. There are two hardware on a com puter, which we can communicate in serial; serial port and USB port. In the serial port, data transfer is carried out via a single line for both the transmitted data and the received data.
